WorkshopTitle: Your Google Account: Beyond the Basics
Day# 4
Subject: Parent and Student Communication
Prerequisite Knowledge: Accessing a Google Account, basic manipulation of a Google document, how to create a Google site, Google forms, and use of Google mail.
Content:

Day 4's workshop will cover using Google applications to improve communication with parents and students. Teachers will learn how to make effective use of their web sites, Google forms, and Google mail in communicating and receiving feedback from students and parents.
Objectives:

By the end of the day, teachers will

1. Assess their current knowledge of communicating with Google applications.
2. Explore the various features of Google mail that can make communication efficient.
3. Understand how to use their course pages as a communication tool.
4. Begin a final project incorporating everything learned throughout this workshop.
Teaching the Lesson:

1. The session will begin with begin with a brief introduction to the advanced features of Google applications that will help improve communication. This will be done via a presentation created in Google docs.
2. Teachers will then review the pre-assessment from day 1 to determine prior knowledge of communication using Google applications.
3. Teachers will next be introduced to the importance of communication how Google can help them communicate more efficiently.
4. Teachers will then spend time working to improve their mail contacts, mailing lists, and web pages.
6. Finally, teachers will be introduced to a final assignment in which they will combine all they have learned during the week to design one lesson that encompasses many skills introduced during sessions 1 - 4. Work will begin the second half of today, and continue the first part of Day 5.
7. Session will end with teachers participating in a daily evaluation form.
Additional Materials:

Prepared Materials for the day include
1. Introduction and Google mail presentations to be used to teach content.
2. A Google form developed as a pre-assessment for the workshop.
3. Pre-made google documents used to explain processes, and for the final project
Evaluation Strategies:

Teachers will post a reflection to the workshop wiki. There will also be informal assessments throughout as teachers work through the material.
